INTRO TO DRAWING
About the module
Introduction to drawing aims to help the students get into the basics and familiarize themselves with mechanical drawing and basic representation of the built and natural environment through drawing. the module introduces different drawing techniques such as floor plan drawing, elevation, and cross-section. all the projects and exercises would require students to apply most of these techniques in their drawing. we are expected to learn how to interpret different types of drawing used in the construction industry as a learning outcome, we also to understand the basic principles and conventions of communicating and presenting our project in the building industry and lastly through this module we will be able to apply drawing as means of communication to express 3D space and objects into 2D orthographic drawings
PROJECT 01
In the first project, we were required to pick any day to day object that is approximately 15cm´15cm´15cm. we were to produce orthographic drawings in top view, elevation, and section. I choose to draw a Subaru toy car that I found in my room. this project taught me how to record, interpret, organize, and describe forms in my toy car. the project also allowed me to look at 3d object and transform it into a 2d orthographic drawings.
PROJECT 02
In the second project, we were required to measure a given space as a group. then individually we were to translate the measurements into scaled drawings. and this meant applying the fundamentals and basic drawing convention. as I was not on the campus. I chose a space in my home, specifically the guest room. from the measurement i was able to produce orthographic drawings in plan view, elevation, and section. in this project I learned more of the fundemantals used in technicals drawing such as elevation and section symbols.
PROJECT 03
In the final project, we were required to design a mini chalet, with a given location that was Taylor's campus lakeside. the space given measured 8000mm X 8000mm, this also included 3 different types of layout that we could choose from but not change. like the first and second project we were to apply all the fundamentals that we had learned from the previous project in order to design and communicate our designs through orthographic drawing. as I was not on the campus, I could not survey the site and thus used good maps to look at the proposed area. I was able to produce orthographic drawings in plan view, elevation, and section. in this project, I learned more of the fundamentals used in technicals drawing such as elevation and section symbols.
MY JOURNEY IN INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING
My journey through intro to drawing was not easy to be honest but was very exciting to say the least. I learnt the basics and fundamental of orthographic drawing, this is something that I have never done before. And it was interesting how at the beginning I had no Idea how I would translate three-dimensional object into two dimensional drawings, and the very end I will be designing my own mini chalet. Intro to drawing gave me the basics I would need when I start my degree in architecture. I hope to improve and built more upon what I have learnt in this module.
SPATIAL
DESIGN
About the module
This module introduces students to the basics and principles concepts of spatial design that cross the boundaries of traditional design disciplines such as architecture, interior design and landscape design. as student we learned how to explore space and its relationship with human activities through various design tasks and projects. most of the projects emphasized on development of ideas in terms of visual thinking and modelmaking. the module served as the formal introduction to spatial design, the study of human and his environments; and activities that are involved in improving those environments. by the end of the module I understood vocabularies and grammar of design language and its characteristics. My Knowledge and skills were honed through practical application to produce space, forms and structures within the design environment.
CLASS EXERCISES
PROJECT 01:
POINT AND LINE
+
PLANE AND VOID
On the first project, the emphasis is on developing ideas in terms of visual thinking and model-making. The project focuses on: “POINT AND LINE” + “PLANE AND VOID” we are required to research and collect picture data of architecture form that reflect good space studies of “POINT AND LINE”. From the selection of data, we would be required to explore and use up the model-making elements in creating new space of architecture form. we need to use our creative skills and translate the form and it must carry the application of design principles “POINT AND LINE” + “PLANE AND VOID” .
The second project emphasizes developing ideas in terms of visual thinking and model-making. The project focuses on: “unity and VARIETY” + “RHYTHM and repetition” we are required to research and express architecture form though the application of “unity and VARIETY” + “RHYTHM and repetition” From the studies and lecture we had to pick up the terminology “unity and VARIETY” + “RHYTHM and repetition”. we are required to creatively explore and translate the design language to 9 different variant mini model and 1 bigger size model.
PROJECT 02:
Unity and VARIETY + RHYTHM and repetition

SPACE
PROJECT 03: PARASITE SPACE
This project is a continuation of learning from my earlier projects. With the design principles, language, and keywords all figured, design a “DESIGNER– THE PARASITE” to serves as a space of our choice to create an interesting SPACE that caters to the needs and scrip of ours: • PLAYGROUND • PERFORMING STAGE • CAFÉ • KIOSK • GAME • OUTDOOR GYM •, etc Draw and include the ergonomics of this interaction and configure the suitable space formation for your character. The design should be unique and innovative and reflect the character of your inspiration.
design basics
This module introduces students to the principal concepts and vocabularies of two-dimensional design and three-dimensional designs. It focuses on the understanding and practical application of the elements of design and principles of organization. in this module, I learnt a lot about the creative designer process and principles. froom different drawing techniques, making collages and designing a head garment. I learnt design is all about an idea and how you can transform that idea into a reality. some ideas remain as a concept but ideas followed by design principle can manifest in reality.
The nature of this assignment requires you to walk, observe and investigate your mundane surrounding environment. The aims are to record, identify, and describe natural and man-made (built) forms observed and captured from your surrounding environment as integrated form of findings in your visual research study. This opening project act as introduction to methods of visual research and sharing (of where and what) you have gathered from your immediate living environment for engaging closer observation and understanding. The final outcome will be in a form of simple accordion fold book format (act as an introduction to two and three dimensional form of presentation).
As for assignment 2, we started to integrate our findings from Project one into a form of 2 Dimensional forms of “designed-orientated Self-portrait” which expresses your decision making of applying - appropriating, arranging and composing with Line, Shape/Space (negative and positive), Hue (organic/manmade) and Texture/Pattern. The outcome would be in A2 Size artwork reflecting your creative combination of visual elements and composition which creates dynamic designed visual impact.
The Final project involved a more complex design thinking development and transferable application on Three-dimensional head garment object which interacts with the human form. The visual research experiences and findings from the project one, two and exercises will be bridging you towards understanding the thorough visual research and exploration expectations to creatively generate a range of visual ideas and design solutions. This project also requires you to develop a higher order of design solutions involving simple mechanism observed from natural and man-made forms. The outcome is to be not only visually attractive but also wearable and transformative functional forms summing up your understanding of Natural and Manmade visual design characteristics.
DESIGNER'S JOURNEY: ELEMENTS OF DESIGN

project 03
Designer's World: Head Garment.
Short exercises to stimulate the design-led thinking process of visual discovery and manipulation through the intense exploration of media and medium in visual design. Identification techniques and medium such as digital photography, trace and draw skills (Exercise 1), compositional exploration through photographic Montage/Collage (Exercise 2), and line and shape identifications through Water Marbling effects (Exercise 3). These techniques are to be taken as part of the process of creative visual process for form generations to help feed into your project one and two. As the module progresses, you will be able to build upon these skills to as you research skills to apply in the Final Project.
